Therapeutic actions:
Antiinflammatory, mucoprotective, demulcent, antiulcer (peptic), adrenal tonic, expectorant,
antitussive, mild laxative, anticariogenic. (Bone, 2003).

Contraindications:
Cholestatic liver disorders, liver cirrhosis, hypokalemia, severe kidney insufficiency.
Safety considerations:
Licorice should not be taken in high doses, or in long-term use with hypertensive patients.
